For English Bull Terrier, Molly, the vets had always been a frightening place. The strange sounds, smells, and surroundings would send her into a panic – often resulting in her cowering behind a chair in the clinic office.

Familiarity only bred contempt for the six-year-old canine; although she had been a regular visitor at the vets from puppyhood, she had never become confident attending her appointments – something which was also distressing for her owner, Iris.

Molly was diagnosed with a knee issue as a puppy. Although an early operation had helped, the issue returned as she grew older. Suddenly, last year, Molly began to have difficulty walking, was in constant pain, and developed a related spinal problem too.

Standard treatments of pain killers were given. Although they lessened Molly’s discomfort, medication did not address the underlying issue.

When Molly’s owner heard about laser treatment available at Aldgate, she therefore jumped at the chance. Sessions were arranged with Veterinary Surgeon, Rayana, who began to develop a treatment plan designed to manage Molly’s pain.

How Did Laser Therapy Help?

After a short course of acupuncture, hydrotherapy and laser treatment were given in tandem, with the aim of both strengthening Molly’s legs and reducing the inflammation and fluid build-up within them.

Molly was naturally quite anxious during her first laser session, but soon began to relax.

“Seeing the change come over her during those first few appointments was truly amazing,” Iris said. “I could have cried. Over time, Molly actually became excited about attending the sessions. The change in her confidence is astounding; I now have to bribe her away from Rayana.”

The physical improvements have been as impressive as the mental. With each session, Iris noticed that Molly was walking better, and was able to bear weight on her foot. She was far more agile, more enthusiastic about walks, and no longer in serious pain.

Is Laser Treatment Worth It?

“I would recommend Rayana to anybody,” said Iris.

“Rayana always makes sure that you, the owner, are alright too. That’s so important. You’re family to your pet, and Rayana understands this. She’s always kind and approachable – you never feel like you’re asking a silly question, and know that you’ll be listened to.”

“It was completely worth the money. Seeing Molly confident and healthy is a joy. She’s no longer held back by her leg, and is embracing life.”
