Our small animal department is very well equipped to offer a comprehensive service for the majority of conditions we see in first opinion practice. With the following equipment on site, we aim to obtain a definite diagnosis whenever possible to get the best possible treatment for your pet.

In-house blood machines: These allow us to run biochemistry and haematology profiles as well as more specific tests for pancreatitis, thyroid levels, progesterone levels and electrolyte levels. Having blood machines on site allows us to obtain results rapidly.

Ultrasound scanners: These are primarily used for imaging abdominal organs but also for heart scans. We have two vets in the team with further qualifications in imaging and a wealth of experience with ultrasonography. We have an ultrasound scanner at both of our practices.

X-rays: An excellent facility for examining many different body systems but used regularly for lameness cases, dentistry and lung pathology. We have a digital X-ray machine at both of our practices.

Endoscopy: We have the facility at Driffield to offer rhinoscopy (examining the nasal cavity with a small rigid camera) and bronchoscopy (examining the upper airways of the lungs with a small flexible camera).

Microscopy: Our microscopes allow us to examine various different bodily fluids and cells in order to assist with obtaining a diagnosis.

External laboratory: For more comprehensive blood work and for histology (analysis of tumours and so on) samples we use an external laboratory. With a courier collecting samples from each site every week day, we can ensure a very rapid return of results.
