Hundreds of local residents and holidaymakers turned out to support a community charity dog show hosted by the RNLI and Aldgate Vets, raising money to support the Bridlington RNLI’s lifesaving work.
The event, held on the promenade outside Bridlington Lifeboat Station, welcomed dog lovers from across the region for a day of family fun, helping to raise almost £800.
Visitors enjoyed a packed programme of stalls, refreshments and activities including a tombola and raffle, with prizes from local businesses, including Wold Escapes, El Sparkey’s Mexican street food and Phillip Anthony photography. Throughout the day, there was also the opportunity to meet the RNLI crew and the Aldgate Vets team, who offered advice on responsible pet ownership and animal health.
The popular dog show attracted almost 50 entries, and was judged by Gina Eagle of local dog training business, K9 Stars. The winners were:
- Best Puppy: Yumi the Shitzu.
- Best Veteran (9 and over): Bonnie the Labrador
- Best Crossbreed: Luna the Cane Corso/Border Collie Cross
- Prettiest Girl: Bella the Spaniel
- Most Handsome Dog: Toby the Poochon
- Waggiest Tail: Luna the Cane Corso/Border Collie Cross
- Best in Show: Bonnie the Labrador
Laura Crossland of Aldgate Vets said: “Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success; our volunteers, exhibitors, local businesses who donated prizes, everyone who entered the dog show, and everyone who came along to support us. It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the day.
“We’re committed to supporting the health and welfare of animals, and we know just how much our clients and the wider community enjoy spending time with their dogs on our fantastic local beaches and coastline.
“The sea can be unpredictable, and our local RNLI volunteers do an incredible job keeping people and their pets safe along our coastline. That’s why we’re so proud to support such an important local charity.”
Around 97% of RNLI frontline lifesavers are volunteers who dedicate their spare time to saving lives at sea. They rely on donations and fundraising to provide the training, equipment and lifeboats needed to respond to emergencies.

“Every dog show entry, raffle ticket and donation helps ensure our volunteer crews have the training, equipment and lifeboats they need to save lives at sea. Every pound raised makes a real difference, and we can’t thank everyone enough for their support.”
Aldgate Vets will continue supporting Bridlington RNLI this year with a programme of fundraising events and are also displaying RNLI water safety information at its Bridlington and Driffield practices.
