Our charity of the year as chosen by the Aldgate Vets team is Macmillan Cancer Support East Yorkshire.
Many of us have been affected by the disease in some way, either first–hand or through a loved one, and sadly last year we lost one of our most long-standing and highly thought-of clients to cancer, and as such, we would like to raise money on the memory of Mike Falkingham.
Mike was well known in the community, respected and held in high regard by all of the Aldgate team, from the vets working alongside him on the farm to our client care team when collecting medicines. He had an infectious enthusiasm for life and bought happiness to those around him. One of life’s good people. When we raise money this year, we will be doing it for Mike.
The whole team is committed to raising as much money as possible for this worthwhile cause. It costs £29 for a Macmillan nurse for an hour, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support. If we reach and exceed our target of £3,000, we’ll be able to fund many hours for these vital nurses.
Aldgate Director Lucy Butler said: “Working with a charity that is close to the hearts of our employees is very important to us. Throughout the year we’ll be running various fundraising initiatives, from family fun days to sponsored sporting challenges and more. We’re proud to be supporting Macmillan Cancer Support and its incredible work in the region.”
Keep an eye out to see what the team get up to throughout the year!”
Our first big event will be Get Caked at Sledmere House on Sunday 16th April; who else is in?
