This gorgeous boy is Brandy, a 9-year-old Labrador. He has been struggling with arthritis for the majority of his life and his owners are taking all the necessary steps to help manage his pain and discomfort.
Recently, Brandy has been showing some signs of increased pain; such as pacing in the evening and vocalising more than usual. He’s also been reluctant to go as far on his walks… which is very out of character!
Arthritis can be a very difficult condition to treat and it can take time to understand what works best for individual pets. Using a pain management clinic is often a really effective way of managing a pet with arthritis, including treatments like hydrotherapy. Pool sessions are helpful as the water takes the weight off those painful joints and allows a pet to build muscle without causing too much of an impact on their limbs.
Brandy has been having hydrotherapy for quite a few years and is now one of the first of Aldgate’s new pool patients. Brandy’s owners say they’ve noticed such a huge difference after his hydrotherapy sessions, and see that his movement is a lot better. Keep up all the good work Brandy, we are very proud of you!
