Farming updates
Important update (05/10/2024):
Bluetongue virus BTV-3 has been confirmed in East Riding of Yorkshire and a 20km Temporary Control Zone has been put in place. Please check the Bluetongue interactive map and GOV.UK to see the latest situation and what steps livestock keepers must take to prevent and control the disease.
Routine fertility visits
We undertake regular routine fertility visits with the majority of our dairy clients. This enables us to assist our clients in improving fertility and therefore profitability in their herds. We use a wireless ultrasound scanner, meaning we can set up quickly and work in the majority of environments with ease
Fertility and mastitis monitoring
A large number of our beef suckler herds are members of CHECS-accredited schemes, undertaking regular testing for diseases such as IBR, BVDV, leptospirosis and neospora. We undertake regular routine blood sampling of herds and assist in advising about scheme requirements
Red Tractor assurance scheme
We undertake annual herd and flock health reviews with our clients for the Red Tractor assurance schemes. This involves reviewing farm data and advising on any measures we feel could be implemented to improve health and productivity in a flock or herd.
TB Testing
We work with UK Farmcare to deliver statutory TB testing to our clients. We also undertake private TB work for clients who require pre or post-movement testing.
Bull breeding soundness examinations
Two of our farm vets have undertaken the BCVA bull breeding soundness training and are available to perform breeding soundness exams, either for prospective sales or prior to use within herds.
Laboratory testing
We have facilities to run in a variety of in-house blood samples for our large animal patients. We also undertake in house faecal egg counting and scour checks for calves.
